Welcome to blogging!

Welcome to our class blog.  I hope that you find this venue for publishing your writing useful and fun.  Please visit each other’s blogs and leave helpful, appropriate comments often.  The exchange of ideas is important!

I hope you enjoy this aspect of our class.  Increasing your tech-savvy and learning to utilize the power of the world wide web should help you as you venture out into the “real” world after graduation.

Thanks upwind. You did a great job writing the poem. And thanks for being understanding about the other post.

If you want to do so, you can create a separate personal blog at wordpress exactly the same way we created the ones for class. That way, you could write whatever you please without connection to school.

    just out of curiosity
what exactly offended you the most??

I think perhaps the very general statements about ALL of a certain group if people being idiots, or perhaps the strength and voracity of your use of the word HATE so often is what worried me most. Besides, I believe that people deserve the right to listen to whatever music they want to listen to without being called stupid. Personally, the mood I am in on any given day dictates the station my radio plays.

Beside that, it wasn’t just that I was offended, but in order to keep the privilege of having such a class venue as this, I need to make sure there is nothing that can be misconstrued as violent or terroristic or in any way unfit to represent my classroom or the school. Since this is a public venue representing my classroom, I want to make sure no powers that be or parents or other teachers or, YES, other students feel TOO TERRIBLY uncomfortable because of anything posted here by anyone. That is why I suggested that you create a separate blog of your own to express your ideas as you wish without any connection to the school. I must warn you though, just as your friends at TOTSE found out, Big Brother IS watching and you must, absolutely MUST be careful how you express yourself on the internet! Many, many people have been turned down for jobs or lost positions at work or scholarships because of something they posted on the internet. RESPONSIBLE internet usage is one thing I want to advocate.

In any case, thank you for your prompt attention to the matter. I appreciate it very much!
